Novak Djokovic has finally won his maiden French Open title having defeated Andy Murray 3-6 6-1 6-2 6-4 to emerge victorious in Sunday’s final at Roland Garros.
The world number one had to overcome a shaky start in Sunday’s final, in which he fell a set down against Murray before rallying back to claim what is now his 12th Grand Slam crown.
It was the British number one, Murray, that enjoyed the better of the early exchanges and it looked like Djokovic will get the infamous tag of being the first man to lose his first four French Open finals.

It was the British number one, Murray, that enjoyed the better of the early exchanges and it looked like Djokovic will get the infamous tag of being the first man to lose his first four French Open finals.
But the Serb, who was quite determined, focused and destructive soon got things under control and cruised to a monumental win.
Djokovic is only the third man in history to complete a non-calendar year Grand Slam – Rod Laver was the last in 1969, with Don Budge also achieving the feat.
In addition, Djokovic has also joined the legends as the 29-year old becomes just the eighth man – and second-oldest – in history to complete the career Grand Slam after Andre Agassi, Budge, Roy Emerson, Roger Federer, Rod Laver, Rafael Nadal and Fred Perry.
