Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford, has been a massive hit for the team since he scored two goals to mark his senior debut against FC Midtjylland in the Europa League in February. Rashford is a child of circumstance.
His inclusion in the Man United first team was due to the injury sustained by team skipper Wayne Rooney, Shortly before the Europa league tie, Anthony Martial also picked up an injury and so Manager Luis Van Gaal brought in Rashford.
Today at the Wembley Stadium, Manchester United have a big semifinal FA Cup match against Everton and Rasford,18, will carry the hopes of LVG and millions of the team’s fans on his shoulders. The teenage sensation has seven goals in 13 outings.
Rashford is still six months short of his 19th birthday, and it is amazing he is making a big impact in a big club to the extent that even now that Rooney is back from injury, he is still the preferred choice in the attack. John Stones, Everton’s main man in the defence will have his hands full in this encounter especially because of the understanding Rashford has been enjoying with Martial and Jesse Lingard.
England Manager Roy Hodgson said on Thursday that he cannot rule out a possible callup for Rashford. “You never know. The fact is it would be foolish as well to say ‘no, no, he’s not ready, he can’t do it” The England U-20 international has scored four Premier League goals, including winners against Manchester City and Aston Villa.
He scored twice in the 3-2 win over Arsenal at the Old Trafford. The youngster also scored at West Ham to help United qualify for today’s match. Everton’s Romelo Lukaku is another player that can deliver on a good day and he could spearhead the revival attempt of the Roberto Martinez side that lost 4-0 to Liverpool during the week.
