Nigeria: Tension as Soldiers Protest Non-Payment of Allowance

Some Nigerian soldiers who fought in the AU Peace-keeping operation in Guinea Bissau last year are protesting the non-payment of their allowance in the last six months, ThisDay reports.

About 200 of the soldiers met with press men in Yola, Adamawa state and registered their displeasure at the recent development.

Some of the affected soldiers of 158 Task Force Battalion situated in Gubio Local Government Area of Borno state said the failure by military authority to pay the allowances is already generating tension in the affected battalion.‎

They appealed to the military leaders to as a matter of urgency pay the allowances owed them.‎‎
