Game of Thrones' Kit Harington reveals why he really shaved off his beard

WHEN Kit Harington was snapped without his trademark beard, social media went into meltdown.

Game of Thrones fans panicked that it meant his character Jon Snow was going to be killed off again but now the star has revealed the truth about his beardless appearance.

Speaking about the reaction to his new look, he said:
"I'm amazed that it makes news.

"My publicist sent me some press, and it was in the Independent and the Telegraph!

"These are mainstream publications writing about someone's beard being shaved!"

He continued: "Hair grows back and actors have to change their look all of the time. I find it constantly entertaining."

Kit quickly put concerns about Jon Snow to rest as he explained his beardless appearance is for a new role.

He told Digital Spy: "I'm doing what's called a shave test or something. For my next job I have to work out how quickly I can grow a beard.

"To do that, I have to shave. So I'm having to take selfies everyday, it's not fun!"

Earlier this week, the 29-year-old revealed he often lies about story lines in Game of Thrones when he is asked for spoilers.

In an interview with BBC Radio Two, he commented: "It always amazes me when people come up to me and ask what's happening for the rest of the season?

"If I actually came out and told you, you'd hate me for it."

Kit confessed: "I've started just lying to people. If they ask what happens this season I say, well, Daenerys dies, Tyrion loses a leg. I just go all out."
