Gbenga Daniel dumps PDP national chairman race

– Former governor of Ogun state, Otunba Gbenga Daniel announces his decision not to take part in the race for Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) national chairman

– OGD never picked up a form to officially express his interest like other aspirants

– The politician was said to have dropped out of the race since end of July when he reportedly backed Rayomond Dokpesi for the job

Former governor of Ogun state, Otunba Gbenga Daniel has pulled out of the race for Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) national chairman.

The politician confirmed the development in a tweet on his official Twitter handle on Friday.

OGD, as he is fondly called, was very apologetic as he announced his exit.

OGD never picked a form to officially express his interest in the position like other aspirants former deputy national chairman, Bode George, owner of the African Independent Television (AIT), Raymond Dokpesi, a former Minister of Education, Tunde Adeniran, and PDP’s governorship candidate in the April 11, 2015 governorship election in Lagos state, Jimi Agbaje.

Initially, there were reports in July that he had stepped down for Raymond Dokpesi after he met with the founder of Daar Communications Group in Shagamu. But his supporters, including Senator Buruji Kashamu came out to deny the report.

Supporters had expected OGD to give the likes of George and Agbaje of Lagos good run for their money should the micro-zoning of the position to south-west be eventually observed.
