Open Hidden Folder/File On All Windows ( XP, Vista, 7, 8, 10)




Follow these simple steps to enable you view any hidden files on all windows ( XP, Vista, 7, 8, 10)

  Windows XP/2003

  •   Double-click on the My Computer icon.
  •   Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
  •   After the new window appears select the View tab.
  •   Check  Display the contents of system folders”.
  •   Under the Hidden files and folders section
  • Check “Show hidden files and folders”.
  •   Uncheck “Hide file extensions for known file types”.
  •   Uncheck “Hide protected operating system files”.
  •   Click the Apply button and then the OK button and shutdown My Computer.
  •   Now your computer is configured to show all hidden files.
Windows Vista.
  •  Click the Window Start Menu.
  •   Navigate to the Control Panel menu option.
    When the control panel opens you can either be in Classic View or Control Panel Home view:
  • If you are in the Classic View do the following:
  •  Double-click on the Folder Options icon.
  •   Click on the View tab.
  •   Under the Hidden files and folders
  •   Check Show hidden files and folders.
  •   Uncheck Hide extensions for known file types.
  •   Uncheck Hide protected operating system files.
  •   Press the Apply button and then the OK button
  • If you are in the Control Panel Home view do the following:
  •   Click on the Appearance and Personalization link.
  •   Click on Show Hidden Files or Folders.
  •   Check Show hidden files and folders.
  •   Uncheck Hide extensions for known file types.
  •   Uncheck Hide protected operating system files.
  •   Press the Apply button and then the OK button.
  •   Now Windows Vista is configured to show all hidden files.

Windows 7
  •   Click the Window Start Menu
  •   Click on the Control Panel menu option.
    When the control panel opens click on the Appearance and Personalization link.
  •   Under the Folder Options category, click on Show Hidden Files or Folders.
  •   Check Show hidden files, folders, or drives.
  •   Uncheck Hide extensions for known file types.
  •   Uncheck Hide protected operating system files (Recommended).
  •   Press the Apply button and then the OK button..
  •   Now Windows 7 is configured to show all hidden files.

Windows 8

  •   From the Windows 8 Start Screen, click on the Control Panel.
  •   When the Control Panel opens scroll down to the bottom and click on the More Settings option.
  •   Control Panel will now open, click on the Appearance and Personalization link.
  •   Under the Folder Options category, click on Show Hidden Files or Folders.
  •   Under the Hidden files and folders, Check Show hidden files, folders, or drives.
  •   Check Hide extensions for known file types.
  •   Uncheck Hide protected operating system files (Recommended).
  •   Press the Apply button and then the OK button..
  •   Now Windows 8 is configured to show all hidden files.
  •  
 Windows 10
  • From the folder in which you have hidden your files or a sub-folder containing your data. From the top Ribbon View, click on the “Options” button.
  •  This will open a “Folder Options” box. From the top, click on the “View” tab. After that choose “Show Hidden Files and Folders” from the list.
  •  Click on “Show Hidden Files and Folders” and you will be able to view all the files that are hidden within that particular folder.
NOTE : When you are through with the file/folder try as much as possible to return to default so as not to tamper with system files.
