Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos satisfied with goalless draw against Manchester City in Champions League semi-final first-leg
Real Madrid
captain Sergio Ramos was satisfied after his side held Manchester City
to a 0-0 draw in the first-leg of their Champions League semi-final.
Chances
were few and far between for both sides during the lacklustre stalemate
at the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday evening - especially since the
competition's top scorer this season Cristiano Ronaldo missed the game
through injury.
Spain
defender Ramos admitted being frustrated by not scoring an away goal,
although insisted he would have taken the chance to reach the Champions
League final in front of home fans when the two teams meet for the
return leg on May 4.
'We are happy for the reaction of the team in the second half,' he said.
'We had more ball possession and created a lot of chances. Everything will be at stake in the second leg.
'We'll
play in our stadium with the support of our fans. If we knew that at
the beginning of the season, we would have taken it.'
The Madrid
centre-back would have liked to have come away from the tie with an away
goal, but was pleased with the way his side kept possession after the
interval.
'Playing
away we would have liked to score. It wasn't possible but the team felt
more comfortable in the second half,' Ramos said.
'We kept the ball better and created chances even though we weren't lucky enough to finish.
'But I'm happy with the team's attitude and for the way we delivered. Our last chance will be at home.'
