Kelechi Iheanacho demands £150,000-per-week to stay at Man City

Manchester City‘s promising youngster Kelechi Iheanacho has demanded 10-times his current wage in order to stay at the Etihad.

Iheanacho has burst on to the scene this season with an array of impressive performances, which have put his more established teammates to shame.

He now wants a new improved deal, which will see him earn £150,000-per-week, 10-times his current £15,000-per-week contract, as reported by the Mirror.

Despite most of his appearances and goals coming from the bench, the 19-year-old Nigerian has impressed his employers, who are set to reward him with an improved deal come the end of the season.

Iheanacho joined City’s academy in 2014, with the teenage talent graduating to the first-team a year later. He’s since gone on to score seven league goals for Manuel Pellegrini’s side, and played his part in both semi-final legs against Real Madrid in the Champions League.

He’s likely to be a huge part of incoming Pep Guardiola’s plans, so City may match the demands of the youngster as soon as his representative issues have been resolved.

The 19-year-old is currently caught up in a battle between his club and his representatives, with a complaint being lodged to the FA. City will wait for the outcome of the situation before opening negotiations over a new deal.

The youngster was an important player in his side’s Capital One Cup success this season as well; he chipped in with two goals en-route to Wembley.

He’s easily out-performed Wilfred Bony, who’s flopped since his £28 million move to City in 2014 but still earns £100,000-per-week, as reported by the newspaper. Bony has only scored four league goals this season, and has been rightly ousted for the emerging 19-year-old.

Iheanacho also has a better shot accuracy than both Bony (43%) and £48 million signing Raheem Sterling (61%) with 63%. He’s now wanting a contract to reflect his rise in significance to the club, who will have to act quickly if they want to tie down this potentially world-class striker at the Etihad.
