53 churches, mosques and hotels across the metropolis in Lagos state where sealed over noise pollution and other environmental nuisances.
Engr. Adebola Shabi, General Manager of Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency, LASEPA, in an interview after sealing the religious houses and the hotels, said they were shut because of complaints from the residents.
He said the premises shut were made for residential purposes but they were converted to worship centers, saying “It has been constituting nuisance to other neighbours.”
Shabi said the affected facilities were served abatement notices before the closure, adding that the growing rate of worship centres calls for serious regulations.
